High Point, NC – September 11, 2024 – Business High Point Chamber of Commerce announces on behalf of HP Ventures, LLC the groundbreaking for the new mixed-use project which will be constructed across from Truist Point Stadium on Lindsay Street. The project will be spearheaded by Mark Penley and Kathryn Harrell of HP Ventures, LLC that is slated to be completed in 2026.
A Social Gaming and Seafood Dining Experience
In addition to gaming and entertainment options that are being planned for the complex, HP Ventures has revealed that one of the central attractions of the new development will be a seafood-focused restaurant named Smitty and Pearl’s. With an emphasis on fresh, local ingredients, the restaurant will feature a state-of-the-art oyster bar offering premium oysters from both Coastal North Carolina and International waters. “High Point has been craving a unique dining experience, and we’re thrilled to introduce this concept to the community,” said Mark Penley, co-developer of the project and partner at HP Ventures. “Our oyster bar will be a signature component of the dining experience giving guests the opportunity to enjoy fresh seafood in a modern, relaxed environment.” Crafted by a team of highly skilled chefs, the menu will focus on seasonal ingredients and an array of specialty dishes every palate can enjoy.

The HP Ventures team aims for this to be a transformative destination where High Point residents and beyond can come together and enjoy delicious food with a wide variety of entertainment options. The entertainment venue is designed to attract those of all ages and will be equipped with the latest gaming technology. Patrons will be able to enjoy a sprawling arcade, virtual reality arena, duckpin bowling, and more! “Our goal is to create an experience unlike any other in High Point;” said Mark Penley. “We’re not just building a restaurant or bar; we’re creating a space where people can socialize, dine and enjoy unique entertainment all in one place. Groundbreaking Ceremony – October 4, 2024
To celebrate the start of this transformative project, HP Ventures alongside Business High Point invite the community to join in the groundbreaking ceremony at 2:00pm on Friday, October 4, 2024. The ceremony will mark the official beginning of construction for the 30,000 square foot development, which is set to be a cornerstone in the ongoing revitalization of High Point’s downtown district. Local government officials and community leaders are also expected to be in attendance to commemorate the event. “We are beyond excited to get this project underway,” said Kathryn Harrell, co-developer of HP Ventures. “This development is not only an investment in the future of High Point but also a symbol of the city’s growth and potential.
